Azeri Grammar

The Azeri grammar allows you to manipulate the vocabulary to obtain multiple forms of a word. The grammatical rules below are the most important in Azeri and help connect words or shape the structure. We start with the prepositions:

And: və	Under: altında
Before: əvvəl	After: sonra
Inside: daxilində	Outside: bayırda, çölündə, xaricində
With: ilə	But: lakin
For: üçün	From: -dan; -dən
To: doğru; -a, -ə	In: içərisində (or) -da; -də

Questions and Adverbs

To ask questions, use the following:

What?: nə?	Who?: kim?
How?: necə?	Why?: niyə?
Where?: harada?

Some of the most important time adverbs:

Never: heç zaman	Rarely: nadir hallarda
Sometimes: bəzən	Usually: adətən
Always: həmişə	Very: çox

Most commonly used pronouns in Azeri:

I: mən	You: sən
He: o (kişi cinsi)	She: o (qadın cinsi)
We: biz	They: onlar

To express the possession of something [possessive form]:

My: mənim	Your: sənin
His: onun (kişi cinsi)	Her: onun (qadın cinsi)
Our: bizim	Their: onların

I will drink milk: mən süd içəcəm
